Selfportrait 5

From THSART.COM:

TALKING ART WITH DARIO MOSCHETTA

Talking Art is a quick artist interview. We ask Dario Moschetta 5 questions to help you get to know him and his art. Please contact the artist directly regarding their work.

Let our readers know who you are, where you are from and what kind of art you create?

My name is Dario Moschetta and I am an artist of Castelfranco Veneto, a small town near Treviso, Italy. I was born here and worked the Renaissance painter Giorgione. My job is to make paintings in acrylic, I’ve been experimenting with various techniques developed by me, one of them is to apply several layers of paper and tear it in a controlled manner, so as to obtain a surface irregular, such as posters of movies that you can see in the street. those are the big city skyline in general. I also do portraits and nudes, even of large size, such as “mick Jagger” recently.

What is your favourite piece of art that you have done?

I am very satisfied to all of my artwork, the last one I did (Mick Jagger) seems very interesting, in both size and color and texture type. I like the cityscapes due to the surface than from a sense of vintage.

Show & Tell us about your workspace and the tools you use. (brushes, charcoal, steel, lasers?)

Use canvas roll, I need a big white surface, when the work is finished I choose the right size. so I feel free to work. I like acrylics because it gives me execution speed, and can be corrected at any time. Brushes of medium size. I also use spatulas, knives, sandpaper, spray water, and step on the surface rags and more. Everything is instinctive, without a precise logic, when something goes well, do not touch it anymore.

What are you working on right now?

Right now I’m working on another large portrait (150x170centimeters), the portrait of Pierpaolo Pasolini, a great Italian writer and director, for my solo exhibition in Empoli, which will be in March to April, together with the “mick jagger” (150x210centimeters) and other paintings. when it is ready I will send you a file, a matter of days.

What is your favourite piece of art from another artist?

There are many artists that I like, I can say here Fracis Bacon, Lucian Freud. further into the past, Modigliani, Picasso, but also the impressionists, italian futurists. if I had to pick one right now … a Bacon self-portrait.
We would like to thank Dario Moschetta for taking part in our quick artist interview. You can check out his work at:
